At the invitation of Michael Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of United States, a senior PLA delegation lead by General Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of the general staff of the PLA, will visit the United States from May 15 to May 22.

Main members of the PLA delegation include General Zhang Haiyang, General Qi Jianguo, General Zheng Qin, General Su Zhiqian, General Zhang Jianping, General Yang Hui and General Guan Youfei.

Huang Xueping, a director of China's Ministry of Defense, said the visit is on the basis of a better relationship between PLA and American Army and both are facing great opportunities for developing.

It is seven years since the chief of general staff of the PLA visited United States last time, and it is also the most important visit since Xu Caihou, the vice president of the Central Military Commission of China, visited the United States in 2009.

The main mission of the current PLA delegation is to promote and enhance the mutual understanding, mutual trust and cooperation between armies in accordance with the agreement made between the presidents of the two countries.
