On March 2, the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination signed license agreements with four local authorized ticketing agencies and nine ticketing agents outside the Chinese mainland, formally initiating ticket sales for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
The four authorized agencies for domestic ticket sales are China Mobile, China Telecom, Bank of Communications and the China Post Group. The nine enterprises designated for ticket sales outside the Chinese mainland including the China Travel Service (Hong Kong), China Travel Service (Taiwan), China Travel Service (Macao) and the JTB Corporation of Japan.
Advance ticket sales for the Shanghai World Expo are divided into three pre-sale phases. Pre-sale Phase one will begin on March 27, 2009. Peak Day Single Day Admission tickets and Standard Day Single Day Admission tickets will be sold to groups including government organs, enterprises and institutions. Phase two of advance sales will begin on July 1. Peak Day Single Day Admission tickets and Standard Day Single Day Admission tickets will be sold to groups and individuals. Phase three of advance sales is from January 1, 2010 to April 30, 2010. The tickets sold to groups and individuals will consist of Peak Day Single Day Admission, Peak Day Special Admission, Standard Day Single Day Admission, Standard Day Special Admission, 3 Day Admission and 7 Day Admission.
According to the overall ticketing plan of the Shanghai World Expo the benchmark price for Expo 2010 ticket is 160 yuan. Other types of tickets are priced as follows: Standard Day Special Admission 100 yuan, Peak Day Single Day Admission 200 yuan, Peak Day Special Admission 120 yuan, and Evening Admission 90 yuan. 3 Day Admission and 7 Day Admission tickets are available for 400 and 900 yuan respectively.
