The suburban railway between Beijing North Station and Yanqing County, Line S2, has been put into operation today, August 7, 2008. It will benefit Beijing's commuters and serve passengers during the Beijing Olympics.

Line S2 runs 82 kilometers in length with a total running time of approximately 80 minutes - half the time of a common train. Each day, 16 trains are expected to run. They will make stops at Qinghuayuan, Qinghe, Shahe, Changping, and Badaling.

It is not just convenient for Olympic visitors at home and abroad who visit the Badaling Great Wall and scenic areas in northwestern Beijing, but also an energy-saving and high-capacity passenger line connecting Beijing's western areas with downtown areas.
