Liu Weidong, general manager of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd., a Sino-French JV, said on Saturday that the company's Chinese and French shareholders were strongly opposed to mingling politics with Olympics.

Liu told reporters here the company firmly supported Beijing to successfully host the Olympic Games, adding that the company's French and Chinese shareholders enjoyed close and friendly cooperation.

Leading Chinese auto maker Dongfeng Motor Corporation general manager Xu Ping said on Saturday people should separate the anti-Chinese attitude of a small number of people from the normal bilateral economic and trade ties.

Based in the central Hubei Province, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company was the country's 10th largest sedan producer last year, with sales of 207,300 units, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
