Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete arrived on Monday in Tianjin, the largest port city in northern China, as he continued his six-day visit to China that is to end on Tuesday.

In a meeting with Kikwete, Tianjin Mayor Huang Xingguo said that Tianjin will enhance exchanges with Tanzania and promote cooperation in trade, economic issues and education.

Kikwete expressed gratitude that China had chosen Tanzania as a leg of the Olympic torch relay, saying that the relay, which helps strengthen the friendship between China and Tanzania, has profound meaning for his country.

Tanzania will send its best athletes to the Beijing Olympic Games, he added.

After the meeting, Kikwete visited Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co.,Ltd. and Tianjin Five Continents International Container Terminal located in Binhai New Area.

He said that he was deeply impressed by the development of Binhai New Area and hoped to learn from Tianjin's experience in economic development.

Binhai New Area has been designated as a pilot location for many new economic and financial policies.

At the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, Kikwete started his current visit to China last Thursday.

Kikwete attended the annual Boao Forum for Asia in Sanya, Hainan, and met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and top legislator Wu Bangguo in Beijing.
