Ten people of India's security forces were killed in a mine blast in an eastern state on Sunday, local media reported.

A landmine was detonated by the anti-government guerrillas in the rural area of Koraput district in eastern Orissa state, leaving 10 people of the Special Operation Group (SOG) dead and 16 others injured, CNN-IBN quoted local police as saying.

The surprise attack was launched as the SOG members were moving to the neighboring district of Malkangiri.
