The first high-speed railway in central China, the Hefei-Wuhan high-speed rail line, officially starts service on April 1, according to Wuhan's railway department.

The Hefei-Wuhan high-speed rail line will take the lead in central China operating the new high-speed CRH2-type multiple unit trains. The streamline body of the train consists of aluminum alloy, and runs at over 250 kilometers per hour. The travel time from Wuhan to Hefei, Nanjing and Shanghai will be reduced to two, three and five hours, respectively.
