Yu Zaiqing was elected International Olympic Committee (IOC) vice president at the 120th IOC session on August 7, and became the second Chinese to take the post after He Zhenliang.
Yu Zaiqing was born in Binxian County, Heilongjiang Province, in April 1951; and he graduated from Nankai University. He is concurrently Vice Minister of the State General Administration of Sports (SGAS), and deputy head of the Chinese Olympic delegation. On August 11, 2004, he was elected as IOC Executive Board member at the 116th IOC session.
