February housing prices up 10.9% in 70 large and medium cities

In February, housing prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities in China were up 10.9 percent over the same period last year, an increase 0.4 percentage points lower than January, according to research from the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

New housing prices were up 11.8 percent over the same period last year, with an increase 0.4 percentage points lower than January.

The price of economy housing was up 4.8 percent over the same period last year, the sale price of commodity housing and high-grade commodity housing were up 12.8 percent and 12.0 percent respectively over the same period of last year.

Major cities with a large increase in new housing sale prices, compared with the same period last year, included Urumqi by 24.2 percent, Ningbo by 18.9 percent, Haikou by 18.9 percent, Nanning by 18.8 percent, and Beijing by 16.5 percent.
