The flag of the Guangzhou Asian Games, which is set to open in November, will be carried to the top of Tibet's Mt. Nodjingangsang.

Fourteen climbers from all over the country will take the flag and mascot of the 16th Asian Games to scale the 7,206-m-high mountain after a flag presentation ceremony held in Guangzhou last Friday, in support of the Asian sport event.

As one of the four major mountains in central Tibet, the mountain is considered an ideal choice for those amateur climbers who try to scale snowy mountains at an altitude of around 7,000 m.

As part of the "Asian Games China Tour," the activity to climb Mt. Nodjingangsang is sponsored by the Guangzhou Asian Games Publicity Department and the Guangzhou Extreme Sports and Climbing Association, with technical support of the Tibet Mountaineering Team.

The 14-member team will set off for the eastern mountain ridge of Nodjinggangsang and is expected to reach the top of the peak on May 7 after arriving in Lhasa on April 24.

Some of the climbers pose for a group photo on the Potala Square, downtown Lhasa, April 26, 2010.
