The Chinese people's demand for overseas study has surged in 2011 along with the country's rapid economic and social development.

The total number of Chinese people studying abroad from 2011 is likely to exceed 300,000, creating a market worth 60 billion yuan, according to the "Report on Study Abroad Trends in China in 2011" released at the 2011 Education Summit, which kicked off in Beijing on Dec. 13.

The summit is hosted by eol.cn, a major Web portal reporting on education in China.
