Unveiling ceremony (People’s Daily Online/Wang Jinxue)

Beijing, Nov. 9 (People’s Daily Online) Info [email protected], a cultural and information center on the US, opened in Beijing. It is the first US-Embassy-funded American center set up in a Chinese university, and the only one in Beijing. The center is jointly run by the American Studeies Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and US-China Education Trust (USCET).

Infor [email protected] is a platform to address the overall level of public misunderstanding between China and the US, to tell the American story to the Chinese people through culture, history and politics, and to allow access to a variety of Americans. It intends to reach out not only to Chinese college students, educators, researchers, journalists, but also the general public. Its primary activities are twofold:

Firstly, administration and coordination of programs (such as lectures, discussions, workshops, film festivals and exhibitions) that promote a better understanding between people from China and the US.

Secondly, provision of reference and research services to the Chinese public seeking information about the United States at the Info [email protected] Reading Room as well as through the BFSU library.
