BAMAKO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Mali's cabinet has awarded a licence for the provision of telecommunication services to a third mobile phone operator, Alpha Telecom Mali.
A statement released after the Cabinet meeting confirmed on Wednesday that Alpha Telecom Mali had been given a licence to start offering telecommunication services in the West African country.
A decree issued by the cabinet specified the duration as well as the modalities of transfer, suspension and withdrawal of the licence.
The third mobile operator came after the award of a licence for the provision of telecommunication services to a private operator, Ikatel, which became Orange Mali in 2006, in addition to the traditional operator, Sotelma.
