Foreign language educators hold cross-Strait conference

The 8th Cross-Strait Conference on Foreign Language Teaching and Learning was held at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) from Oct. 15 to Oct. 16, 2011. Around 120 representatives of universities and colleges from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan attend the meeting.

The cross-strait conference on foreign language teaching and learning is a foreign language forum co-launched by Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Fu Jen Catholic University and Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages in 2004.

The conference is aimed at promoting the exchange of experience in the cultivation of foreign language talent. The four universities take turns hosting the symposium annually.

During the symposium, teachers held heated discussions over a wide range of topics, such as foreign language teaching methods and skills, grammar, teaching material compilation and intercultural communication.(Wang Jinxue)
