Real Madrid sacks coach Capello to seek enthusiastic football

Spanish first division soccer champions Real Madrid on Thursday sacked their coach Fabio Capello to seek more enthusiastic way of playing.

The decision was announced by Real Madrid's sporting director Pedja Mijatovic.

Spanish daily Marca reported that Real president Ramon Calderon justified the move to the Real directors by insisting the side must "always search for excellence".

"We've made an important step with the title, we've laid the foundations but we need to find another more enthusiastic way of playing," Calderon is quoted as saying.

Capello, who has coached AC Milan and Juventus in Serie A, leaves the Bernabeu Stadium with two years on his contract still remaining.
