At least 10 killed in Baghdad hotel suicide bombing

The death toll rose to 10 and dozens wounded, when a suicide bomber blew himself up in the lobby of Mansour Mellia Hotel in central Baghdad on Monday.

"There is at least ten people killed and dozens wounded when a suicide bomber blew up his explosive belt in the crowded lobby of the hotel around midday," Xinhua correspondent at the scene said.

The powerful blast took place during a gathering of local tribes at the hotel, leaving charred bodies of the victims and many others wounded lying near the reception office, he said.

The powerful blast badly damaged the first and the second floor of the hotel on the western bank of the Tigris River, he added.

The police put the toll at 10 killed and 15 others injured.
