Malaysia has selected four young scientists to represent the country at the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates With Young Scientists scheduled for next month in Germany, national news agency Bernama reported on Friday.

The four scientists included two lecturers, specialized in nanobiotechnology and molecular virology respectively, and two medical Ph.D. students from University Malaya (UM) and University Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Malaysia Science Academy Executive Director Samsudin Tugiman Friday said that the four were selected from 50 applicants nationwide and it is the fourth time that Malaysia is participating in the annual gathering of Nobel Prize winners with high potential young scientists.

The Malaysian delegates would be among 500 young scientists from around the world to meet with 20 past Nobel laureates on July 1-6 at Lake Constance in Lindau, Germany, Samsudin said.

Malaysia participated in the gathering, which was inaugurated in 1952, for the first time in 2004.
