The Hangzhou Bay Trans-sea Bridge, the world's longest of its kind in east China's Zhejiang Province, has been linked up successfully at 3:00 p.m. on June 14, 2007. The gigantic bridge strides across Hangzhou Gulf and links up the Haiyan County of Jiaxing and Cixi, a city of Ningbo. It runs a full length of 36 kilometers, with an investment of 14 billion yuan and a designed lifespan of 100 years. It will cut the land distance between Ningbo and Shanghai by more than 120 kilometers. The bridge contains six lanes in both directions, which enable a traveling speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
