The Attorney General of Zambia Mumba Malila registered Wednesday the London High Court Judgment against Zambia's former president Frederick Chiluba and 19 others in the Lusaka High Court.

This means the orders made in the judgment of May 4 this year by London High court Judge Peter Smith will take effect.

Lusaka High Court Judge in charge Essau Chuulu has since allocated the case to another high court judge Japhet Banda.

Others affected by the judgment include former Zambia intelligence director general Xavier Chungu, former ministry of finance permanent secretary Stella Chibanda and access financial services workers Aaron Chungu and Faustin Kabwe.

In the London High Court judgment, Chiluba was found liable for conspiracy to defraud the Zambian government of over 41 million U. S. dollars of public funds.

He was ordered to repay the funds 14 days after he was served with the judgment.

The case against them were commenced by the attorney general of Zambia in the London High Court and touched among other issues the overpayments involving the ZAMTROOP account and the BK conspiracy, a fictitious arms deal.

Judge Smith ordered Chiluba and the 19 to pay back 85 percent of the total amount they had stolen from the Zambian people.

The Zambian government sued Chiluba and his cohorts in London because most of the transaction involving theft of public funds were done through British-based banks and law firms.
