font size

Chinese Foreign Ministry said Tuesday China is looking into recent accusation that some factories producing products for the Beijing Olympics are using child labor.

Spokesman of the Ministry Qin Gang said the Organizing Committee for the Beijing Olympic Games (BOCOG) very strictly regulates factories that make licensed Beijing Olympics products. including requirements to protect workers' rights.

The committee will severely punish enterprises that violate the regulations, he said.

"BOCOG is contacting relevant factories to verify the accusation," said Qin.

Qin said China has approved conventions on equal pay for work of equal value, prohibition of child labor and elimination of job discrimination.
