font size

Thailand will host a World Health Organization (WHO) meeting on the sharing of influenza viruses and distribution of vaccines, Thai Public Health Minister Mongkol na Songkhla announced on Sunday.

Thailand was selected to host the event by an assembly of all 193 WHO members which ended last week in Geneva, the minister was quoted by local news network The Nation as saying.

Nongkol said the issue of bird flu is one of the most controversial in terms of global health and Thailand proved adept at finding a compromise between the divergent stances of developing and developed countries.

The meeting will be held in July or August, the minister said.
