Moscow picked to host TT World Team Championships in 2010

Moscow was picked on Wednesday to host the table tennis World Team Championships in 2010, following the withdrawal of all other candidate cities.

Moscow forwarded an exciting bid that could well see a table tennis festival in the world famous Red Square, the International Table Tennis Federation said in a statement after its annual general meeting.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 23 to 30, 2010. The next championships will take place in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou from Feb. 24 to March 2, 2008.

Earlier this week, the Austrian Table Tennis Federation withdrew its bid to host the World Team Championships in 2010 and instead it would organize the World Team Cup in 2009.
