font size

At least nine mortar rounds struck the heavily fortified Green Zone which houses the U.S. embassy and Iraqi government offices on Wednesday, injuring six people, a U.S. embassy spokesman said.

The attack took place at about 4:00 p.m. (1200 GMT), according to the spokesman who confirmed that six people were injured in the attack but he could not identify the nationalities of the victims.

On Tuesday, an embassy spokesman said that similar attack on the walled area wounded five contractors working for the U.S. embassy.
