Chinese top advisor stresses mainland-Taiwan exchanges
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks when he met a delegation of the Taiwan-based Chinese Women's League.
Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should stand firmly against "Taiwan independence" to achieve peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, Jia said.
Koo Yen Cho-yun, head of the delegation, said women should play an important role in promoting exchanges across the Strait.
Koo Yen Cho-yun, director of the Chinese Women's League, is the widow of Koo Chen-fu, former chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation.
Chen Yunlin, head of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, also met with the delegation.
