Russian police curb marijuana march

Russian police have detained 14 people for plotting a parade promoting use of marijuana in Moscow on Saturday, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Police believe that participants in the parade will peddle drugs to the public during the event, said Russian Interior Ministry spokesman Valery Gribankin.

There have been attempts to stage such events in the country, which have all been cracked down by the government.

Moscow has rejected a request to "legalize marijuana" parades in the city this weekend and any such rallies will be dispersed as unauthorized, RIA said, citing the city's security chief Nikolai Kulikov.
