font size

A suicide car bomb went off near an office of a Kurdish political party in northern Iraq Monday, killing at least 10 people and wounding more than 20 others, provincial police source said.

"A suicide bomber driving an explosive-laden vehicle struck the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the village of Tal Asquf, north of the Mosul city," Brigadier Saed al-Jubouri, head of the police media office in Nineveh province, told Xinhua by telephone.

The first police report said at least 10 people were killed and more than 20 others wounded along with damaging parts of the office building, he said.

Mosul, the capital city of the predominantly Sunni province of Nineveh, is some 400 km north of the Iraqi capital.
