Senior Chinese Communist Party official Wu Guanzheng on Friday met in Havana with Second Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz on further promoting bilateral cooperation.
Wu, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), spoke highly of Cuba's political stability and economic development and hoped Cuba would make greater achievements in its socialist cause with Cuban characteristics.
Wu said Sino-Cuban ties are developing steadily with close high-level contacts and frequent exchanges of visits at various levels, adding that China and Cuba are trustworthy friends, comrades and brothers who support each other and coordinate closely in regional and international affairs.
Raul Castro echoed Wu's evaluation of bilateral relations, inquired about the work of Chinese party and state leaders and asked Wu to convey his greetings to CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao and other Chinese party and state leaders.
He said Cuba has treasured China's political support and economic aid, is keen to learn from its experience of development and will continue to strengthen its exchanges and cooperation with China at various levels to benefit the Cuban people.
Earlier in the day, Wu also met with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban President Fidel Castro in a local hospital and had an exchange of views with him on the current international situation and issues of common concern.
Wu arrived here Thursday for a four-day good-will visit to Cuba.
