Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress(NPC), China's top legislature, met Wednesday in Beijing with Former French President Valery Giscard-D'Estaing.

China-France relations has entered the best period in history and the good political ties have given a strong impetus to bilateral economic and trade relations, Wu said.

Wu said China is building an innovation-oriented country and fostering a resource efficient and environment-friendly society, which provides more opportunities for the two countries to conduct pragmatic cooperation.

China will join hands with France to expand and deepen cooperation and drive forward the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership, Wu said.

D'Estaing said all circles in France are very interested in developing ties with China and French entrepreneurs will continue their cooperation with their Chinese counterparts to inject new vigor into bilateral ties.

D'Estaing was here to attend the 13th China-France Economic Seminar that opened on Tuesday.
