China's first farmer-pilot killed in plane crash
Tan Chengnian(R2) poses for a photo in his aircraft. (file photo) Tan Chengnian, a 50-year-old farmer in east China's Shandong Province, was fascinated by aircraft since childhood. He began to develop his own aircraft nine years ago. His first success was a 15-minute flight, 18 meters above the ground in May, 2005. On April 8, he was killed when he crashed his aircraft into a village courtyard in Pingyin County in east China's Shandong Province.
