font size

Three U.S. soldiers were killed and another wounded in two explosions near their patrol in the capital, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

The attack took place on Monday when a roadside bomb and secondary explosions detonated near their vehicle in southeastern Baghdad, the military said in a statement.

The names of the killed soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

More than 3,280 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
