At least 14 people died while 27 others were injured after a Lusaka bound bus they were travelling in overturned Friday in the Central Province of Zambia, Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reported Saturday.

The bus overturned after developing a tire burst.

Central Police Commanding Officer Grace Chipalila confirmed the accident, saying six bodies are still trapped in the wreckage of the bus. The Fire Brigade has gone to the site to help retrieve the bodies.

According to ZANIS, 13 people who received serious injuries are admitted to the Mansa General Hospital in neighboring Luapula Province.
