Mexico and Chile on Wednesday signed agreement to launch the project "Support for Mexican schools linked to Chile."
The agreement was signed by visiting Chilean President Michelle Bachelet and Mexican Secretary of Public Education Josefina Vasquez Motas at the Pablo Neruda Middle School here.
Bachelet, Chile's first female president, is on a two-day official visit to Mexico.
According to the pact, Chile will donate computers, sports utilities, electrical appliances, musical instruments and books to five Mexican schools, which have been named after leading Chilean figures.
Four of these schools are in the Mexican capital, namely the Salvador Allende Primary School, No.4 Pablo Neruda Preparatory School and two middle schools named after Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral. The other one is the Gabriela Mistral Secondary School in Tenextepango in the central Mexican state of Morelos.
Bachelet and Vasquez Mota also signed an agreement on providing government aid to young Chilean professionals for their postgraduate studies in Mexico, and vice versa.
