Iran and Turkey agreed Sunday on promotion of agricultural cooperation between them, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Iranian Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mohammad-Reza Eskandari and visiting Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Mehmet Mehdi Eker reached the agreement in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by them.
The document underlines expansion of mutual cooperation in many items, including protection of plants, animal husbandry, healthy environment for animals, investments in agricultural sectors, management for control of drought and transfer of technological know-how in the sector.
During the signing ceremony, the Iranian minister expressed the hope that the MOU would lead to further expansion of executive cooperation in the agricultural sector.
"Fortunately the two sides are committed to help promote mutual cooperation in the sector," Eskandari said.
For his part, Eker said that the visit of Turkish officials to Iran would help the two sides adopt much closer ties in agricultural sector and the prospects for mutual relations were very bright.
