Philippine player Ronato Alcano has been crowned the new World 8-Ball champion after defeating his countryman Dennis Orcollo in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates, local TV reported on Friday.
Alcano erupted anew for an 11-8 win against Orcollo in the final of the World 8-Ball Championship in Fujairah on Thursday, said a report by GMA TV.
Alcano, the current World 9-Ball champion, brought home the trophy and the 25,000 U.S. dollars-pot, said the report.
"I'm really happy to win here on my first participation especially coming on the back of winning the world title in the 9-ball equivalent," Alcano said.
Last November, Alcano handed Ralf Souquet, a top-seeded former champion from Germany, a 17-11 defeat during the championship match of the 2006 World Pool Championships.
