A blast caused some casualties outside the Bagram U.S. military base, about 50 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, on Tuesday morning, Richard Simonsen, a press officer at the base, told Xinhua.

U.S. Vice President arrived at the base on Monday afternoon, and he was expected to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday in Kabul.
