Vietnam to elect 500 legislators in May

Five hundred members of the 12th National Assembly of Vietnam, the country's top legislature, will be elected on May 20, local media reported Friday.

According to a plan of the National Assembly's Standing Committee, of the 500 deputies, 167 or 168 are working at central organizations and agencies, the newspaper Youth said.

Of the 167 or 168 people, 10 are working at organizations of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 3 at the State President's Office, 15 at government agencies, 31 at the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 15 at the Defense Ministry, 3 at the Ministry of Public Security, 4 at news agencies, 1 at the People's Supreme Court, and 1 at the People's Procuracy.
