font size

The National Citizen Identity Information Center recently announced that after five years of work, details of China's 1.3 billion people have been organized into a database. The National Citizen Identity Information System, operational since the end of 2006, is the largest national identification information database in the world.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the system will be accessible to relevant agencies, but citizen's privacy will be protected. It will help prevent identity theft and related crime. It will provide technological support and insurance for internet information security. It is also a precursor for the development and construction of an individual credit system.
