Police find six bodies in western Iraq

The Iraqi police on Monday found six unidentified bodies in several parts of Haditha city, some 180 km west of Baghdad, a local police source said.

"Our patrols found six bodies in different neighborhoods of Haditha city on Monday," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The bullet-riddled bodies were bound and blindfolded, showing signs of torture, he said, adding that the Iraqi police have transferred all of them to the morgue.

Haditha is a Sunni stronghold along the Euphrates river in the volatile Anbar province of western Iraq.

The almost daily gruesome body findings and waves of explosions across Iraq were seen as a major setback for the government's efforts to quell violence and achieve national reconciliation.
