England stun US 1-1 at Four Nations soccer tournament

England shocked second-ranked the United States with a deserved 1-1 draw in the Four Nations women's soccer international tournament in Guangzhou on Sunday.

Endland manager Hope Powell brought on a strong forward line made up of Arsenal's Rachel Yankey and Leeds United hitman Eniola Aluko, who had been sitting on the bench during their first game against China. The two skillful strikers posed big trouble to the Americans.

Yankey, Aluko and right midfielder Karen Carney all produced some tricks on the pitch and had several pretty shots after imaginative and effective dribbling. But it was their opponents who found the target first.

Forward Heather O'Reilly headed home midfielder Natasha Kai's right flank cross in the 16th minute.

Right back Alexandra Scott dashed in to the box timely and poked in the nice equalizer at the far post on 48 minutes after Yankey fed a clinical low center from the left.

Both sides fought fiercely in the midfield in the second half. England seemed to take the upper hand with several sharp forays down the flanks and nice shots, but US defence was hard to break again.
