Canada captured Tuesday the last berth of the semifinals in men's curling by beating Britain 7-4 at the Winter Universiade.
Britain, which had qualified before the loss, managed to level it at 4-4 before Canada scored the winning three points in the last two outings.
Canada joined the United States, Britain and Sweden in the semifinal, which begins on Thursday.
In Tuesday's other matches, Switzerland beat Italy 9-6, the United States beat Sweden 9-4, China beat the Czech Republic 9-2 and South Korea beat Japan 10-9.
Wednesday's last session of the preliminary round will not affect the qualifiers, but the standings which led by the United States.
