13 killed, 42 injured in bus accident in India-controlled Kashmir

At least 13 people were killed and 42 injured when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a river in India-controlled Kashmir Thursday, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

The bus was on its way to Doda district from Kishtwar town when it slipped off the road near Prem Nagar, about 200 km from Jammu, winter capital of the region, and fell into the Chenab River at about 9 a.m., the news said.

Two children and three women are among the dead and 16 of the injured were in critical conditions, according to the police in Jammu.

The condition of roads in Doda, a mountainous area, was poor.
