A car bomb went off at a popular market in southern Baghdad on Monday, killing three people and wounding five others, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A car bomb parking at the popular market of Saidiyah district detonate at about 1:30 p.m. (1030 GMT) killing three people and wounding five others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, seven people were wounded when a homemade bomb went off at the Doura busy market in southern Baghdad, the source said.

Violence rages in Iraq as sectarian killings, car bombings, and roadside bombs cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
