Three Iraqi soldiers killed in bomb attack
font size

Three Iraqi soldiers were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb near the restive city of Fallujah on Thursday, witnesses said.

"A roadside bomb detonated at about 7:15 a.m. (0415 GMT) near a passing Iraqi army patrol outside a town near Fallujah," the witnesses told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast destroyed an Iraqi army Humvee, killing three soldiers and wounding another aboard, they said.

The Sunni-dominated Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, has witnessed sporadic insurgent attacks against the U.S. and Iraqi government forces despite U.S.-Iraqi military operations in the city to stamp out insurgency.
