Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Peruvian counterpart Alan Garcia exchanged congratulatory messages on Thursday, marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
In his message, Hu said Peru was among the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with China.
The bilateral ties, which have enjoyed smooth development over the past 35 years, have entered a new stage since China and Peru set up an all-round cooperative partnership, Hu said.
The two countries have increasingly deepened their exchanges and cooperation in politics, economy and trade, culture, education and science and technology; maintained good coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, He said.
The Sino-Peru relationship will have a broad and promising future, Hu added.
He also said in the new century, China is willing to work together with Peru to further expand exchanges, enhance cooperation and increasingly enrich the contents of bilateral ties to push forward the comprehensive Sino-Peru partnership of cooperation in a faster and better way.
In his message, Garcia said the two countries have made great efforts in enhancing relations between the two governments and peoples since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971.
The two countries have conducted friendly exchanges including exchanges of high-level visits and cooperation in various fields, he said, adding that the efforts have lifted the Peru-China ties to the comprehensive partnership of cooperation.
The Peruvian government sincerely hopes to further deepen and expand its ties with China, Garcia stressed.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Peruvian counterpart Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde have exchanged congratulatory messages.
