IOC Coordination Commission back in Beijing next week
font size

IOC's Coordination Commission will return to Beijing next week to look at a full range of Games-related areas to ensure that the city's preparatory work for the 2008 Games is progressing in the right direction.

The Commission, which is on the seventh visit to the Chinese capital since it was awarded the 2008 Games in July 2001, will meet with BOCOG from Oct. 24-26, moving through a very busy agenda that will include plenary sessions, working groups and a venue tour - which will allow the members of the Commission to gauge the progress being made on some of the key stadia to be used during the Beijing Games.

During the plenary sessions, the Commission will hear reports on subjects such as venue operations, volunteers, education and culture, legacy, and the environment.

The Commission, which is chaired by IOC member Hein Verbruggen, will also be joined for part of this visit by IOC President Jacques Rogge.
