Chinese senior official Li Changchun visited an exhibition of surveying and mapping work in Beijing on Tuesday.

During his visit, Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, called for promoting surveying and mapping work.

The exhibition, covering 8,500 square meters, displays China's major achievements in surveying and mapping.

Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan also visited the exhibition. Zeng said China should speed up developing modern surveying and mapping technology and exploiting geographic information resources to meet the growing needs of social and economic development.
