The Indonesian Air Force plans to fully arm its four Russia-made Sukhoi jetfighters, which arrived here in 2004 unarmed, a report said Saturday.
The program is estimated to cost 7 million U.S. dollars, reported the country's leading news website Detikcom, quoting the air force chief.
"The fund is intended to buy guided missiles, rockets and bombs, " said Air Marshal Herman Prayitno.
Besides the arms, the four aircraft also will have their avionics system upgraded to make them compatible with Air Force's system which uses mostly U.S.-made aircraft, he said.
The Ministry of Defense has earlier announced the plan to buy another four Sukhois to make them into one squadron.
