China, Malta ruling parties vow to enhance cooperation

China will work with Malta to enhance party exchanges to facilitate bilateral cooperation, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Thursday in Beijing.

Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting with Tonio Borg, deputy prime minister and deputy leader of the Nationalist Party of Malta

Wu, also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, highlighted the sound and smooth growth of bilateral relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1972.

In recent years, he noted, the two countries have made achievements in cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, culture, education and tourism, and they have also maintained close communication and cooperation in international affairs.

Wu extended his appreciation for Malta's consistent support to China on Taiwan and Tibet issues.

Wu said the CPC will further dialogue and cooperation with the Maltese ruling party to improve the China-Malta relations.

Borg said Malta Nationalist Party will make more efforts for friendship between the two countries.
