Bodies of two Turkish truck drivers, who were killed in an armed attack near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, were sent back to Turkey on Friday, the Turkish semi- official Anatolia news agency reported.

The two drivers, who were identified as Nuri Akceren and Zeki Kilicwho, was killed near Iraqi city of Mosul on Wednesday, said the report.

Abdullah Isik, who survived the attack, was quoted as saying that their convoy was stopped by a group of armed men who forced them to get off their vehicles when they were returning to Turkey.

"We put our hands up and surrendered, but they opened fire at us. I managed to escape and hide," said Isik.

Many Turkish truck drivers have been attacked or kidnapped along the highway from Turkey to Iraq.
