Two U.S. soldiers were killed in two incidents in the volatile Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Thursday.

"A soldier, assigned to the 1st Brigade of the 1st Armored Division, was killed on Monday due to enemy action while operating in Anbar province," the military said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a U.S. marine, assigned to the 7th Regimental Combat Team, was killed on Monday due to enemy action while operating in the Anbar province.

More than 2,700 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
